Richard Fritz - States Attorney with SHeriff Cameron and Lt. Thompson

Rick Fritz has served as State's Attorney for St. Mary’s County since 1999. A graduate of American University, he attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 1976. Upon graduation, Rick served as Senior Law Clerk to District Public Defender John F. Slade III. Since becoming a trial lawyer in 1977, he has served as a prosecutor in St. Mary’s County under the leadership of George Sparling, C. Clarke Raley, and Walter Dorsey.  In 1998, the voters of St. Mary’s County chose Mr. Fritz to serve as the State’s Attorney for St. Mary’s County.

Mr. Fritz has tried over fifty homicide trials, one thousand felony drug cases, and three hundred jury trials. He is honored to serve as the chief law enforcement officer for St. Mary’s County. He works closely with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police to keep our streets safe.
