St. Mary's County Park Use Limited to Reduce Spread of COVID-19: St. Mary's County Government owned and operated parks are operating with additional limitations in response to the COVID-19 Stay-at-Home Order issued by Governor Larry Hogan. Waterfront parks, including Elms Beach, Myrtle Point, and Snow Hill Park, remain closed to the public. Public landings, including boat ramps, piers and gathering spaces are closed to the public. An exception is made allowing commercial waterman with valid licenses to use the public landings. Recreational boating is not permitted under the Governor's Order. All other St. Mary's County Government-owned and operated parks are open under the following specific safety guidelines: exercise activities such as walking, hiking, running or biking while adhering to recommended 6-foot social distancing measures are permitted. Any sports or activities which engage in bodily contact such as basketball, soccer, football are not permitted. Gathering of groups are limited to no more than 10 people in any specific area of the park. Park hours and operations are available at the www.stmarysmd.com/recreate/parks. Event Cancellations for April - May 8, 2020: St. Mary's County Recreation & Parks is cancelling several upcoming events over the next 8 weeks. In accordance with the CDC's restrictions, we must cancel or postpone certain activities. The following are cancelled: 37th Annual Easter Egg Festival, Mother Son Kickball, Summerstock Auditions, Spring Fling Pickleball Tournament, Mother Daughter Tea, Special Night at the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum. We are working on rescheduling the Mother Son Kickball event for the Fall and also hope to reschedule to the Mother Daughter Tea at a later date as well. Staff will be working to also add a new date for a Pickleball tournament and a Special Night at the Museum.

Effective as of Friday, March 13 beginning at 9:00pm: All recreation programs are cancelled and all facilities are closed until further notice. This includes Margaret Brent, Leonard Hall, Hollywood and Carver Recreation Centers. This also includes the Great Mills Swimming Pool, St. Mary's Gymnastics Academy and Chancellors Run Regional Park facilities. All organized practices and games are cancelled in St. Mary's County parks until further notice. The St. Clements Island and Piney Point Lighthouse and Museum will be closed and events cancelled until further notice. The surrounding museum grounds are open even though the buildings are closed. The Wicomico Shores Golf Course & Riverview Restaurant are closed until further notice. Public access to St. Mary’s County Government buildings are closed.
