The Patuxent River Center is one of the extended campuses and has served the employees of the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River for 25 years. The Patuxent River Center offers the Associate/Bachelor of Science Degrees in Professional Aeronautics and Technical Management, with specialties in Management, Logistics, & Safety. The Master of Aeronautical Science is offered with specialties in Aeronautics, Management, Safety, and Operations.
The Patuxent Graduate Center of Florida Institute of Technology has provided graduate education in the Southern Maryland area since 1972, with over 1,000 graduates to date. Located in the Building 1489, inside of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Florida Tech at Patuxent River. Currently, six graduate programs may be earned entirely online. On-site classes are taught at the Frank Knox building at Patuxent Naval Air Station. All courses for the eleven degree programs in Management, Public Administration, Engineering and Computer Sciences are taught by experienced professionals who are currently working in their field.
The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center (SMHEC) serves as the regional graduate education higher education institution for the State of Maryland in Southern Maryland. SMHEC offers over 60 academic programs in engineering, education, nursing, management, social work, and counseling. All courses and degree requirements for all academic programs presented at SMHEC are offered at SMHEC. Their two high-tech buildings allow instructors, trainers and students maximize instruction and learning by utilizing the corporate format high-tech environment. Computers are networked with the latest software, integrated multi-media teaching stations, LCD projectors, compressed video, satellite downloading, and T-1 lines for superior internet service are available in all of the Center’s classrooms and meeting spaces.
University of Maryland University College banner The University of Maryland University College provides higher education through distance learning as well as traditional-classroom courses at its Patuxent River site. UMUC undergraduate students can now choose from 23 majors and 35 minors. UMUC currently offers 20 master’s degrees, including an online Master of Business Administration degree, as well as a doctorate in Management with three specializations. Both the UMUC School of Undergraduate Studies and the university’s Graduate School offer several certificates in various specialty areas. Thirty-five undergraduate and graduate degree programs and 59 certificate programs are offered on-line.
