Dr. Rebecca Bridgett serves as the County Administrator for St. Mary’s County. She was appointed to the position in April, 2013. Dr. Bridgett brings more than a decade of experience in public administration to St. Mary’s County serving in a variety of executive level positions in local and state government. Between 2009 and 2012 she served as County Administrator for Charles County where she was responsible for a $235 million operating budget and a $191 million capital improvement budget. Most recently she served as Acting Director of Human Resources for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office where she administered policies relating to all phases of Human Resource activities.

Dr. Bridgett also served as Director of the Charles County Department of Social Services, Department of Human Resources, for over five years. In that capacity, she led daily operations for county human service programs for vulnerable adults and children. During her tenure with the Maryland Department of Human Resources, she served as the Acting Executive Director of the Social Services Administration. There she reported regularly to the Maryland General Assembly on key initiatives and was a liaison between central operations and local departments of social service child welfare programs.

Education has played a pivotal role in her career. She served as chair and a member of the Charles County School Board where she developed policy for public school students and was responsible for a $200 million budget.

Other key career accomplishments include University of Maryland Academy of Excellence in Local Governance Fellow, member of Leadership Maryland’s class of 2016, member of Leadership Southern Maryland’s class of 2014, Director of the Charles County Human Services Partnership, and Crisis Outreach Worker with the Center for Children in La Plata, MD.

Dr. Bridgett holds a Doctor of Education from NOVA Southeastern University, a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Communication from Campbell University.
