Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Cecil Park Tennis Courts Renovation and Expansion Project

The Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Recreation and Parks hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Cecil Park Tennis Courts Renovation and Expansion Project on Tuesday, October 21, 2008.  Attendees included the Commissioners, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Maryland Chapter President, St. Mary’s County Tennis Association members and County staff. 

The project included the renovation and resurfacing of two existing courts and the construction of two new courts.  The new tennis facilities feature Premier® court surfacing which provides a softer, more user friendly surface for tennis players of all ages and abilities. Representatives from the USTA Maryland and the St. Mary’s County Tennis Association were recognized for their assistance with the project.  American Tennis Courts, Inc. was also recognized for construction of the project.

Katie Keen, on behalf of all the tennis players in St. Mary’s County, thanks the Commissioners and Recreation and Parks for the new tennis facilities at Cecil Park.  Chris Reynolds, President, USTA Maryland, presents a ceremonial check in the amount of $12,500 to the County for the Cecil Park and the Seventh District Park Tennis Court improvement projects. 
 The Commissioners; Mr. Reynolds, USTA Maryland; Sue Bellis, Katie Keen, Brian Abell and SMC Tennis Association members; Coleman Hillman of the Recreation and Parks Board; Phil Rollins, Director of Recreation and Parks; and other citizens gather in front of the tennis courts for the ribbon cutting. Zachary Longmore, age 4, and Katie Keen, cut the ceremonial ribbon.
