Maryland's Secretary of State Mary Kane is entertained by an
anecdote from St. Mary's County Dan Raley to everyone's delight
after the wreath laying ceremony that culminates Maryland Day
festivities at the St. Clement's Island Museum. Secretary Kane

Maryland Day commemorates
the arrival of the first colonists who landed at St. Clement's
Island in 1634. On March 25,Governor Leonard Calvert declared this
land for "Saviour and Soveriegn" establishing a colony in the New
World to escape the religious persecution in England. |
