Liza Recto, race director and president of the Chesapeake Bay Running Club, used a bull horn to assemble the runners to the starting line at the Paul Hall Center in Piney Point, MD. St. Mary's County Commissioner President Thomas F. McKay, Jr. goodheartedly offers to start the race as the Unofficial 10 Minute Pace Captain.

Water stations were set up along the 26.2 mile course providing runners with water, sports drinks, and carb loading gummy bears. Volunteers Mark Markovich, Courtney Igoe and Sarah Massie man the water station at the Piney Point Lighthouse where they not only handed out refreshments but offered runner's enthusiastic cheers of support.

About 300 runners came from all over the United States to participate in the Lower Potomac River Marathon, a qualifying race for the prestigious Boston Marathon. Here the runners have made there way from the Paul Center for Maritime Training and Education to St. George Island.

Local resident Robin (Cullins) Richards crosses the finish line to complete her very first marathon. She is greeted by her mom (Kim Cullins), husband Matt, sister Leah, and cousin Jenna. Dubbing themselves Team Richards, Robin's family, wearing yellow t-shirts inscribed with "Robin's Rowdies," provided moral support for her all through the race route.
