Piney Point Lighthouse Waterfront Festival - May 2008

The festival included local exhibitors such as NuStar of Piney Point, formerly Valero and S T Services.  NuStar representative Dale Springer explains to passers by the operation of the NuStar plant, its fuel storage facility, and the function of the pipeline.

The Piney Point Playboys band was well-received by the festival audience who greatly enjoyed the Cajun-style music.

The Potomac River Wade In was conducted by the Lower Potomac River Tributary Team and lead by St. Mary's County Commissioner President Francis Jack Russell (holding measuring stick).

The Potomac River Wade In was conducted by the Lower Potomac River Tributary Team and lead by St. Mary's County Commissioner President Francis Jack Russell (holding measuring stick).

The purpose of the wade in is to measure the water clarity of the Potomac.  Commissioner Russell points to the 4' 6" mark on the measuring stick which is a full foot deeper than last year!  Also pictured are Mike Bilek (middle) of the Maryland Tributary Strategies Program and Davaid Waring (right), vice chair of the Lower Potomac River Tributary Team.
