MISSION STATEMENT: The Friends of the St. Clement's Island and Piney Point Museums raise funds in order to support historical interpretation, education programs, and special needs of the sites managed by the Museum Division of St. Mary's County Department of Recreation and Parks. The Friends organization is a 501(c) 3 organization sponsoring events, assisting with acquisitions, and supporting efforts to broaden the understanding of our culture and community's heritage.   saint marys icon image
About The Friends

As you see from reading the mission statement, The Friends play a vital role in financing many of the programs and activities of the St. Mary's County Museum Division. The Friends raise funds through:
• Membership dues
Museum store operations (St. Clement's Island Museum/Piney Point Lighthouse Museum)
Fundraisers (Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival - Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner
Private organizational donor contributions
Memorial gifts/bequests

As a 501 (c) 3 organization, your donation and membership to The Friends is tax deductible.

Your support through membership, a donation, or simply shopping at our museum stores greatly help our effort to assist with the educational, historical and preservation projects and programs of the St. Mary's County Museum Division.

The Friends operate both the Crab Claw Museum Store at the St. Clement’s Island Museum and the Lighthouse Lens Museum Store at the Piney Point Lighthouse, Museum and Historic Park. Proceeds directly benefit these museums to support education programs and exhibits.
